Vitiligo Complicating chronic Hepatitis B patients treated with α-Interferon (Report of two cases)
α-Interferon is an antiviral agent used in treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Triggering of the underlying autoimmune disease or exacerbation of pre-existing auto immune disease is documented with α-interferon, but there are few reports about occurrence of autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus, Vitiligo, hypo and hyperthyroidism after administration of α-interferon in the lit...
متن کاملEvaluation of miR-101 Level in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection and Liver Cirrhosis
ABSTRACT Background and Objective: MiRNAs are small RNAs that are expressed in most eukaryotes, and can regulate gene expression by attaching to the 3’ end of target mRNA. MicroRNA-101 (miR-101) post-transcriptional regulation is important for host-virus interactions. In addition, miR-101 has a tumor suppressive role in liver cancer and metastasis, an...
متن کاملMutations at Nucleotide 1762, 1764 and 1766 of Hepatitis B Virus X Gene in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B and Hepatitis B-Related Cirrhosis
Abstract Background and objective: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus with high tendency toward hepatic tissue. There are currently about 3 million HBV-infected people and 350 to 400 million chronic carriers of this virus in the world. X protein plays a role in the over-expression of oncogenes, carcinogenicity of liver cells and overlaps with the basal co...
متن کاملThe investigation of glucose metabolism and insulin secretion in subjects of chronic hepatitis B with cirrhosis.
AIMS To investigate the situations of abnormal glucose metabolism and dysfunction of pancreatic islet beta cells in subjects of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) with cirrhosis. METHODS 106 hepatitis B virus (HBV) positive subjects with liver cirrhosis as well as with different grade of Child-Pugh and 37 healthy subjects were included in this study. The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), C-peptide a...
متن کاملAbnormal metabolism of secondary bile acids in patients with cirrhosis.
The composition of bile acids in human bile was determined in bile-rich duodenal fluid on four consecutive days in a group of seven patients with cirrhosis and eight control patients with no liver disease. There was a marked reduction of secondary biliary bile acids in cirrhotic patients. Possible mechanisms for these changes are discussed.
